LIFESTYLE | My Blogging Goals & Challenges

My Blogging Goals and Challenges

Hello lovelies!

Today's post is rather positive because lets talk about my BLOGGING GOALS! I think it is important to set yourself some goals to try to aim for...

1. I think having goals is extremely self motivating.
2. It makes you feel REALLY good when you achieve your goals.
3. I simply like making lists of things. Is that such a crime?

I'd like to reach these by 2016, and I am going to keep coming back to this post for a reference and to use the cross out button! (if possible, some are more achievable than others, I admit some are sure going to be a challenge, particularly with final year at University, but I like to think I am ambitious person)

Organisation

Get Myself Into a Routine

Now this would be a HUGE one for me. I have absolutely ZERO routine when it comes to blogging. (you probably know this little fact) I have an idea, I write it, I hit publish instantly. That is just how it goes and whilst that has been perfectly fine up until now, I do think that I will need to organise specific 'post days' to keep up with blogging and university to prevent crying my eyes out, due to stress. It will also allow me to not think owh I really want to get a post up... because that is the PERFECT procrastination technique. It just has to be a sense of... Kayleigh you already have two posts up this week, on your set days and that IS ENOUGH. Does this make sense?

I'm thinking of trying to post every Wednesday and Sunday! <3

Start Advertising on Very Berry Cosmo

I've been thinking about this for a while, and seeing my good friend Rhianna take the leap has really made me want to get into the world of advertising EVEN MORE. I just have the fear that people wouldn't want to advertise with me! I might give it a few more months, but please do let me know in the comments if this is an exciting thing! I'd like to do fewer, more personal packages.

Blog Posts

Open Up and Blog About OCD more

This is an important one to me. I think I am always quite cautious about what I write on Very Berry Cosmo because I think about the future a lot and I would only ever want my blog to help me out. (employment etc) But it is also in my nature to be helpful, I love that warm fuzzy feeling you get after helping someone out, being there for someone, or simply giving out advice.

Don't get be wrong, I do love writing about a good lipstick, but what makes me happy inside are the posts that people can relate toIt makes me almost cry when I receive emails saying that my posts really help them.

I really want to open up more about OCD on my blog. So far I haven't mentioned it all too much, I'm not ashamed, but it certainly is extremely scary to be so open on the internet. I think you forget how many people could indeed read your posts, I try not to think about it when I write my personal ones.

Statistics

Now, I know a lot of you will say that statistics don't matter, you may be right. . . I don't think statistics necessarily make you a better blogger, they don't, they are just a form of measurement, and unfortunately we live in a world of numbers and blogging seems to be one of those number games. It is natural to want to achieve 'readers' and 'followers' because at the end of the day, you don't spend hours and hours writing posts for absolutely no one to read, even if you do absolutely adore writing.

Hit 5,000 Followers on Twitter

Hit 1,000 Followers on Instagram

Hit 250 Subscribers on Youtube

These are all pretty self explanatory and hopefully with lots of hard work and commitment I can reach these goals

Reach 3,000 Unique Users Within a Month

This one is certainly quite a tricky one. Each month since I started logging my analytics in January via Google Analytics, I have gradually increased my users each month. Last month (1st August - 1st September 2015) I reached 2,336 users which was my all time record and I was so so pleased. HOWEVER. I did in fact FINALLY link my blog to my personal Facebook which had a HUGE impact on the statistics. But fingers crossed for 3,000 in a month by 2016 hey?

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Reach a Domain Authority of 25

Again, an extremely challenging one, god I am feeling ambitious. For those that don't know, Domain Authority basically is a number ranked between 1-100 which basically states how high up you appear in the Google Search Engine Rankings, the higher the better. You can achieve a higher DA by naming your images appropriately, and including links in your blog posts, to other sites but also to your previous posts. A few months back I would have said that this was likely to be totally achievable when I was on my DA of 20, but now on 18, I am not so sure. Plus it hasn't changed for a fair few months. But I am going to work my little bum off to try to achieve the 25!

A Couple of Daily Challenges

My Blogging Goals and Challenges Phone Instagram

Post a New Instagram Image Each Day

I am currently testing this one out. This one is hard, because some days you are literally just in your Pj's slobbing about.... (me quite a lot of the time at the moment, UNI WORK!) But for the last 3 or so days I have posted a new picture everyday, and yes that is a REALLY big deal for me. So I am determined to keep this up! If you aren't doing something interesting that day there is always a chance for a cheeky throwback.

Reply To Emails Everyday

Anyone that has ever emailed may have experienced that I can be quite rubbish with them. Life has been quite busy lately, me usually signing up to far too much than my little body and mind can take. I let them PILE AND PILE up which then makes me not want to tackle them even more. I WILL change this, and I aim to keep on top of my emails, keeping a dedicated time slot each day to do them. My usual problem is just me. I get motivated to do things at crazy hours, hey I am writing this at 3am. You CAN'T reply to emails at this time because it is just not professional really is it? So Kayleigh, SORT THAT TIME SLOT OUT......

Anywaaaaay,

Hope you enjoyed this post lovelies! Wish me luck! Do you have any goals you would like to achieve before 2016? It is important to also remember to not get yourself down if you don't reach your set goals, this is a positive exercise, not a negative one. Keep in mind, every day is a learning curve.

  5. I can relate to all of these especially the last one. I always end up taking on more than I can manage, and I really want to change that especially with uni being back in business.

  19. Such amazing goals - good luck with them! It can really give you such a great big boost of much needed motivation by setting yourself goals. I definitely need to try and start posting on instagram everyday too, I find it quite hard to gain followers on there and so it would be great to improve and have more people visiting my blog from instagram too rather than just twitter.
