Don’t you just love John Lewis? There is something extremely magical about that place. The adverts at Christmas say it all. Whenever I visit my boyfriend in Liverpool I could literally spend HOURS walking around that store, and he really doesn’t understand why.
IT IS AMAZING, THAT’S WHY
I could honestly buy that entire store. It is the kind of store that makes me want to grow up fast and have my own little home filled with all of their lovely home and kitchen ware. But for now, I love it for their BEAUTY SECTION.
Having worked at Waitrose for a few years… (joined in 2010, oh maaa god) I have been very blessed to have a discount card at John Lewis… a rather generous 25% off everything except electrical items at 12.5%. This will be the reason I have 9 MAC lipsticks…. I mean 25% off MAC lippies?!?!
About a month ago now I had my final shift at Waitrose. I woke up on the morning and was like RIGHT. I need to have my final discount spend. I took myself to twitter, and you all said I needed to buy EVERYTHING. Which OH I would have loved to, but we had to be a little bit more realistic didn’t we 🙁
Let’s see what I spontaneously purchased! I didn’t go too crazy by the way, but I picked up some lovelies!
Marc Jacobs, Daisy Eau So Fresh Sorbet
Now this was a little bit of a naughty one. I definitely did not need another perfume… I still have about three others on the go. But this is a perfume that I just kept smelling every time I went into Boots. I felt so guilty buying it, but I knew that if I didn’t buy it whilst I had discount, I KNEW I would 100% regret it! It smells sooooooooo amazing. It smells… fresh, which sounds really obvious because of the name, but it DOES. Marc Jacobs scents ALWAYS smell amazing, I was lucky to receive one last Christmas and aren’t the bottles always stunning?! Packaging is always something that sells to me!
It smells lovely, very florally and sensual. It isn’t overpowering, the perfect scent for an everyday wear. I don’t know how long it lasts… because I think you get used to the scent on you, but it is honestly lovely. AND it is on offer at Boots at the moment – you lucky things! £37.50 for 75ml! I fully recommend giving it a sniff, and it will look gorgeous on your dressing table!
Now, I love this gorgeous lipstick so much that it ended up in my July Favourites, so I won’t bore you lovelies too much by saying the same things again. But BOY I love this lipstick, in every single way. It is such a gorgeous everyday shade, that keeps your lips nice and moisturised. It doesn’t have the best staying power, but because it is so sheer, you don’t look silly when it wears off, so you can either reapply or just get on with your day.
Origins Stay Hydrated Set For Normal / Dry Skin
Oh Origins. A brand that I have wanted to get my little mitts on for quite a while now. But it is just so so expensive. Was there a way that I could try a few products without the hefty price tag? YES
This little set is super super cute, and would make such a lovely gift for someone who loves their skincare routine. I know you can go into store and request for samples, but I wanted to get a proper feel for the products. The set includes:
– Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask 50ml
– Origins Modern Friction 50ml
– Origins Mini Facial Brush
I had heard amazing things about the Drink Up Intensive Mask, and I will admit, it really is an amazing product, however, it is DEFINITELY a luxury product, and by no means an essential. It does make my skin feel amazing though, really moisturised, healthy and glowing, I try to reserve it for special occasions.
The Modern Friction is a lovely product, but I don’t think I like it more than my Liz Earle Gentle Exfoliator, I truly love that stuff. The beads in the Origins one I would say are bigger, and don’t necessarily exfoliate as much, but do provide a very gentle exfoliate. Does that make sense? I think it depends how much you want it to exfoliate… and your skin type. I would say mine is quite ‘normal’ whatever the hell normal means… but I hear this is amazing on acne prone skin.
The mini facial brush… hmmm I found it quite rough and sore on the skin, I would much rather use my muslin cloth, but totally all down to personal preference!
For £15 (I got it for about £11 with discount) I thought it was worth a shout, particularly when the Modern Friction for 50ml is usually worth £13.50! £33 for 125ml BARGAIN! If you are looking to even just try one of these products, then this set is very good value!
I also purchased some cutlery, but that is in Leeds, so no photos sadly 🙁 but *heart eyed emoji* John Lewis do BEAUTIFUL high quality cutlery, I really feel satisfied when I pick up my new knife / fork, they feel nice and sturdy. I feel I am growing up because I get excited by pretty cutlery on a daily basis. I am buying myself some Cath Kidston cutlery when I finish University next year! EEK!
Hope you enjoyed this post lovelies! Don’t you just love a good spontaneous spend? I am rather proud of the items that I purchased! All lovely little treats, because sometimes you just gotta treat yourself!
RIP discount card, miss you already!
