Okay this is a post (and vlog) that I am super super super super SUPER duper duper duper excited to share with you all! You
may, probably, definitely will have seen myself and 5 other bloggers go a weeny weeny bit crazy with the #BloggerSleepover hashtag for a few weeks or so now. But particularly crazy last weekend because that was when we had our gorgeous weekend away!
This might be a long one…..
I spent the weekend with Alex, Rhianna, Emma, Sophie and Lou. It was wonderful, it was like living in a little blogger house! I love these guys, I really do. I don’t even really call them my ‘blogging friends’ anymore, because to be honest, they are simply my friends now, and I don’t know what I would do without them! *awwwwh soppy moment* It does bring a tear to my eye when I think… I met these girls on THE INTERNET? What?
So, where did we spend the weekend? THIS gorgeous little Sykes Cottage in the Peak District – Honeystone.
Isn’t it gorgeous? Look at that view! As you can imagine, as bloggers, what was going on in our little heads! It is so photogenic!!!! I kept just saying, it is SO CUTE. You will probably see this in the vlog. I couldn’t stop describing things as cute.
The weekend of giggles began with the simple task of taking a photograph of some cupcakes. This took up a good 10/15 minutes of my time, and I still wasn’t happy with the result, doh!
Alex and I didn’t arrive until about 7.30pm on the Friday evening so by the time we had settled down for a bit and had a gossip, it was time for FOOD! (and wine) Of course, we had to have Domino’s, and of course, we ordered far too much, but that is okay, pizza leftovers the next day are amazing! I think we literally stayed up for hours chatting, and that was really nice, but OH it was also just as lovely when that head hit that pillow. Alex and I had a few giggles in our room, the headrest kept making weird noises against the wall every time we moved a little bit, (I move a lot in my sleep too! Opps!) then giggling every time.. hehehe sorry Lou and Rhi!
Then it was Saturday, and another lovely #BloggerSleepover day was about to happen! Our plans for the day included a trip to the local reservoir and a picnic! The girls had picked up lots of tasty treats from the store, before Alex and I had arrived the day before. These girls know how to do a picnic! Food baby alert. We also had our Domino’s leftovers too of course!
This was kind of a Blogger VS reality kind of shot, and I thought it was funny so I wanted to share it with you. Because sometimes you just gotta EAT. Because be honest, when does a picnic ever look as perfect as the left one! We made friends with some cheeky little duckies who wanted in on our picnic, and I don’t blame them.
A few flower photographs later… and we continued our walk to the reservoir. What can I say? I just love flowers. I flock to them like a bee. They are so beautiful and colourful.
A few watery eyed, unflattering angled, wind swept photos later at the reservoir, plus Lou and Emma looking adorable. I love Lou’s coat, we all did. It was SO WINDY, but so beautiful and calm at the same time. I tried to capture as much as I could in my vlog.
We then went home and did a few blogging bits, and I think a few people had a little nap! Rhi was on it though, making our delicious spag bol! We all settled down watching Harry Potter, and then spontaneously decided we wanted to go and watch the sunset. It wasn’t actually that spontaneous, because Alex suggested it, but oh it felt it. That is just how spontaneous my life is… not very. (I really relied on my spell check for all of that, how many times have I just said spontaneous? I seriously need a thesaurus.
Cute and spontaneous are words that are now banned from the rest of the post.
Our plan to see the sunset
kind of very much failed because you couldn’t see the sun behind the clouds AT ALL. But we did find an interesting spot to view it, and it was kind of an attraction in itself. I think it was called the winking man? (Anyone please correct me if I am wrong) but basically a rock looking like a winking man. So we decided to climb and climb it.
I was pants at this I won’t lie, and I didn’t really like it at all. The view was stunning yes, but it felt a little bit too scary / risky for me. I felt that if I took one wrong step then I would fall and tumble. 🙁 I don’t want to bring too much negativity to Very Berry Cosmo though, so I guess I can add it to the list of the fears I faced this weekend, very proud. (I am impressed I vlogged it to be honest!) The other girls loved it though, and lots of selfies and a few instax photos were taken! It was really hard to demonstrate how high up we were just by taking a photograph. It was seriously high!
I was quite quiet and anxious when I got home, but nothing that a good shower and hair wash, plus a big bowl of spag bol couldn’t solve! Thank you Rhi, it was delicious. “WOW this portion is big.. never going to eat it all” …wolfs it down in like 7 mins. Then… let the game of Cards Against Humanity commence. A few dark horses were on top form this evening! Have any of you ever played this game? Haha, oh it can get mean and brutal. I think we stayed up until 3.30am.. opps.
Ah.. Sunday. The day of rest… or food. Lots of it.
Task one of the day? Taking an Instagram worthy photograph of our delicious breakfast of course. It was harder than it looked. After watching Instagram princess Sophie take photos all weekend, it was safe to say I think I finally grasped her angle hehehehe. (Seriously, check out her Instagram, it is beautiful) MmMmMm can I just have the breakfast again please? Seriously loved Lou’s pancakes, such a pro!
We didn’t have an awful lot planned for this day in all honesty. (we didn’t get up until like 11ish mind… late night and all that) We also planned on there being really heavy rain for the entire day. We got up to a few blogging bits and bobs, lots of selfies, and a few outfit blog post photos.
It then was… ROAST DINNER TIME. Blogging is hungry work yano? I hadn’t had a roast in such a long time before this weekend, probably not since my Christmas Dinner one, and is that really a roast? IT WAS SO GOOD. Thanks again to the lovelies for making it. It was cooked to perfection, all of it. I didn’t get a photo of it because I just wanted to EAT IT ALL.
We then sadly had to say bye to Alex, because she had to teach the next day. 🙁 Waaaa. We spent our evening watching About Time. SUCH an amazing film, all the feels, whilst munching on a cake absolutely covered in Nutella. Delicious. Plus I was with some of my favourite girls in the world 🙂 Perfection. In the morning we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Honeystone and say our goodbyes. *Sob* Perhaps not the most eventful weekend, but sometimes you need the time to relax, and I wouldn’t change the weekend at all.
A big thank you to Emma for organising our lovely weekend away! Another big thank you to Sykes Cottages for their beautiful little cottage for the weekend – as well as our chocolates and wine! I would really recommend looking into their portfolio of cottages, it took us ages to decide on which one, they have so many across the country to choose from! Plus (last one promise) a big thank you to Propercorn, Urban fruit, Meridian Foods, and Metcalfe’s Skinny for providing us with our snacks! They kept us going!
Want to have even more of a nose? You can watch my VLOG here! Hope you enjoy it! Stay till the end, the bloopers are fab. Let’s play a game. (Gosh, I sound like Jigsaw) Count how many times I say cute during it! GO.
Thank you for a lovely weekend beauties, and I hope I get to meet lots more of you lovelies very soon!
Lots of Love,
*Sykes Cottages provided us with a discount for the cottage for an honest review. Propercorn, Urban Fruit, Meridian Foods and Metcalfe’s Skinny provided us with some delicious snacks to keep us going! All views are my own*
